RosterOS is our recommended Trainerize alternative for independent trainers who coach in person and run their business from an iPhone. Keep client notes with their bookings, record payments as they arrive, and start free with up to 15 active clients. It works on iPad too.

Your 9 a.m. client has moved to Thursday. Someone else has two sessions left in a package. A bank transfer came in last night. Those are the details RosterOS helps you keep together while you get on with coaching.

Start with 15 active clients free. Session packages, workout building and revenue insights are available with Pro.

Why choose RosterOS for in-person training?

You already know what happened in the session because you were there. You changed an exercise, heard about the client's knee, or agreed on a different time next week. RosterOS gives you a place to record it before the next person arrives.

What you need during the dayHow RosterOS helps
Find the context before a client walks inKeep notes with their client record
Know when you're seeing them nextManage appointments and repeat bookings
Remember which payments arrivedRecord money collected through your existing payment method
Log something where reception is poorSave notes and payments offline, then sync when connected
Track prepaid appointmentsUse Pro session packages to record sessions remaining

These are tasks you can do yourself. Clients don't need to download an app, remember a password or learn a new routine before you can start.

Keep the session note you'll need next time

That exercise change belongs beside the client's history. So does the note you want to read before their next appointment. Having it there gives you a record to return to when the details are no longer fresh.

You can use RosterOS between sessions on your iPhone or pick up your records on an iPad. You can also save notes and payment records without a connection, then sync when you're online again. The RosterOS FAQ explains account setup and offline use.

Keep your payment method and organize the records

If clients already pay by bank transfer, cash or another service, you can keep collecting that way. Record the payment in RosterOS so it stays with the client and session.

With Pro, you can also track prepaid packages. When someone buys ten sessions, the amount paid and the appointments remaining answer different questions. RosterOS gives you records for both. Our personal training package tracker explains how to keep those balances clear.

What you get free

RosterOS's free plan supports up to 15 active clients, including appointments, notes and payment logging. Put your own working week into the app before deciding whether you need Pro.

Pro adds session packages, workout building and revenue insights, among other features. Check the Free and Pro breakdown for the tools you want to use and the localized subscription price in the app.

How the other Trainerize alternatives fit

For delivering workouts to clients who train on their own, the other options include:

  • Everfit, with workout building, messaging and client apps for iOS and Android. Its free Starter plan supports five clients.
  • TrueCoach, with client workout logging and a program builder. Its plans have different active-client limits and a 14-day trial.
  • PT Distinction, with group coaching, automated workflows and scheduled messages for course delivery.

Trainerize itself has scheduling and Stripe payment integration. Its plans distinguish coaching clients from basic clients and include optional add-ons. Price the setup you'd use when comparing it with RosterOS.

For an independent trainer managing their own in-person appointments, our recommendation is RosterOS. Put the records you need during the day on the phone you have with you.
